Should we select either the Dynamics GP Business Essential Bundle or the Advanced Management Bundle?

The Business Essentials Edition modules include core financial modules and reporting tools, payroll, Human resource as well as some supply chain management (SCM) modules.  The Advanced Management Bundle will be used by companies who require financial and accounting programs plus more complex supply chain management, manufacturing, demand planning, field service management, advanced distribution, and project accounting.  It also has more business intelligence and reporting functionality than Business Essentials.

Is Office SharePoint Server 2007 required for Business Portal 4.0?

No, both Windows SharePoint Server 3.0 and Office SharePoint Server 2007 can be used with
Business Portal 4.0. Please note, however, that there some Business Portal 4.0 features that only work when SharePoint Server 2007 is installed.  Please see the next Q&A for an example.

Why Can't I utilize the workflow or search capabilities in Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0?

Microsoft requires the installation of SharePoint Server 2007 for these features because you need MOSS 2007 for this functionality.  By the way, after it’s installed, there are 6 preconfigured workflows that are included in Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0.

What are some other Business Portal features when deploying it with MOSS 2007?

Some of the Business Intelligence features are the Report Center, the Excel Services, the connections to external data sources, and digital dashboards.

What is an easier way to add fields and/or create new forms?

The Dynamics GP Extender module is easier to use than modifier, VB or Dexterity.  It’s a point and click GP module to add forms, windows, fields etc…   And since it is a GP module, it can posts to GP modules and be used with the SmartList reports module.
